I think it’s fair to say it’s pretty dry, but certainly an informative look at Hydrogen…

One from the archives of FPS magazine, published in 2005. Sheila Sofia writes about animated documentary shorts, including her own films ‘Survivors’ and A Conversation with Haris’.

[EDIT – FPS magazine is now no longer available online, so the article is uploaded here as a series of jpegs]

From the animated interview genre, Slaves, from Swedish production company Story.
It’s a follow up to directors Hanna Heilborn and David Aronowitsch’s film Hidden, exploring the experience of child refugees – you can watch them both on the Story site.
A third film in the series ‘Sharaf’ is listed as in production – as is a ‘new animated documentary feature’. Looking forward to hearing more about that…

I was initially told about the brony community by one of my students, so I was intrigued when I stumbled across ‘Boys Who Like Ponies’ – an animated documentary by Norwegian student Hakon Marcus. Yep, boys and men who follow the animated children’s series My Little Pony. Be sure to turn on captions for English subtitles (if you need them).
Any Bronies out there? We’d love to hear your thoughts…

Here’s a sweet little film from Spain…
Boys and girls who have left their hometown tell their story through their memories, family history, past adventures, and their particular sense of distance and oblivion. The past and present of these little citizens of the world is displayed in a fantastic dreamworld, without rules or prejudice whatsoever, fueled only by their words, their playful dreams, and young imagination.
This is the subtitled version.
Produced as a final project at the Masters in Animation from IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona.
